Facial Redness Treatment

Rosacea is a common condition consisting of facial redness, blood vessels, and/or acne-like lesions.

While the acne-like lesions are best treated with prescription creams or oral medications, the redness and blood vessels can only be improved with laser treatment. Pulsed dye lasers deliver an intense but gentle burst of light to selectively targeted blood vessels. With each laser pulse, you will feel a cooling spray first followed by a rubber band snapping sensation. Immediately after the treatment, you will feel like you have a mild sunburn, with some redness and swelling. Depending on the nature of the condition and aggressiveness of the treatment, bruising is also possible. Redness and bruising (if present) is usually gone by 7-10 days. Make-up may be applied immediately after treatment. When used to treat visible blood vessels, most patients see a 50% to 75% reduction in visible blood vessels after 1 to 3 treatments. Some people see a 100% reduction. The results tend to last 3 to 5 years. Treated blood vessels don’t reappear, but new ones can form.
